KITA TIDAK BISA TIDAK BERKOMUNIKASI

Artinya, kapanpun, dimanapun dan dalam bentuk apapun, komunikasi terus berlangsung, baik secara verbal maupun non verbal. Komunikasi bisa berlangsung secara disengaja maupun tidak disengaja. Suatu proses komunikasi untuk tujuan tertentu bisa berlangsung tidak lancar akibat adanya BARRIER, baik yang TIDAK DISENGAJA maupun yang secara SENGAJA dimunculkan, untuk mengganggu atau mengaburkan komunikasi.

Proses interview, investigasi, bahkan counseling, menjadi tidak efektif manakala proses penggalian informasi tidak menghasilkan INFORMASI yang AKURAT dan LENGKAP. Ketidakakuratan informasi bisa muncul karena adanya efek LAZY LANGUAGE yang terjadi karena kegagalan melakukan sinkronisasi antara apa yang dipikirkan (DEEP STRUCTURE) dengan apa yang dikatakan (SURFACE STRUCTURE). Akibatnya informasi yang muncul tidak menggambarkan keadaan yang sebenarnya. Seorang interviewe, recruiter, investigator bahkan counselor sekalipun, membutuhkan kemampuan berKOMUNIKASI secara MULTISENSORIC, berKOMUNIKASI baik VERBAL maupun NON VERBAL, seperti memahami jalan pikiran, mengkalibrasi strategi berfikir, menDETEKSI indikasi adanya informasi PALSU atau KEBOHONGAN, sampai teknik mengKLARIFIKASI untuk menggali informasi yang masih tersembunyi (DEEP STRUCTURE), tidak sekadar menyerap informasi yang terbuka (SURFACE STRUCTURE).
